ynk’s 2nd ep for polytone is much more than a continuation of his earlier records on polytone and tenderpark. instead, the young artist wants his new ep to be seen as an autonomous work which draws on a multitude of different materials. this leads to a very fluid texture of samples, synths and drum machines and a very detailed structure at first sight - however, all elements fit into each other very nicely and make way for the bigger picture if you take a step back.

edizioni mondo presents serie due! while the first chapter with four releases dedicated to seascapes ended with the compilation collezione, we are now delving into a new part of edizioni mondo’s world that presents new views and also artists. niagara, the first release, anticipates the l.u.c.a. album and contains 3 different versions of the same track: one from rotla, one from polysick and a l.u.c.a.s own quirky version that is surprisingly dancefloor-friendly. the name mondo has its roots in “mondo movies” is inspired by libarary music and has the goal to produce music that is descriptive of concepts, images and environments. good listening!

los massieras see themselves as legitimate psychedelic explorers sonically adventuring into dark territories and furry textures. their concrete, minimal electronics, trance inducing percussive sounds and mutant disco influences are drone infected, with slight dub inflections and sometimes even an unusual cold & poppy feel, if you care to consider the residents a pop band.

last trasmissions from solaris was inspired by the stanislav lems novel solaris, a journey into techno-soul emissions explored by the talent of passenger. it combines a subdole sci-fi atmosphere with solid techno approach and scientific electro incarnation. here you can find a direction if your soul needs an utopian vision of the future. the closest thing to detroit we have been able to produce over the years.

one sided 7inch color blue. with one track... probably french only can understand the joke. its a song from gainsbourg called le poinconneur des lilas transformed into the partyguy from les lilas. kind of an anthem for free party guys. a bit like the one night in hackney, but in a free party french version. as the sound was nasty we went and cut this properly in a decent studio, and sound is really amazing compared to the you tube version. a superb little collectable tune. enjoy!

*agraphobia* by la synthesis is considered by many as one of the most beautifully crafted string-driven techno tracks of all time. originally released in 1994 it has received somewhat of a legendary cult status. 21 years later it is now time to breathe new life into this essential track and make it available again for a new generation of electronic music enthusiasts. together with de:tuned, la synthesis handpicked some of their favourite producers to rework the original and the results are mind-boggling to say the least.

uk techno stalwart ben sims adopts his ron bacardi alias for an outing on bass culture records, bringing with him three varying slices of 4x4-based music. d’julz has a deep penchant for bass and funk, and this is evident throughout the ep. we get off to a rugged start with ‘rock your body’, a deliciously dark slice of grumbling techno. intertwined with the morose bassline is a mysterious, tribal-esque female vocal, warped and twisted to add a primal feel to the track. on the flip, bacardi puts his a different hat on giving us ‘first effort’ a vivacious funk-laced hybrid, which teases you spitting out intermittent trumpets and other such live instruments. finally, ‘the money/dub’ goes straight into disco territory with that oh-so-familiar entrancing rhythm that will keep you fixed to its beat from start to finish. that filtered wah-wah guitar is impossible to resist, especially when combined with such crisp percussion. sheer quality from monsieur bacardi…

uk house veteran phil asher arrives on rekids with the latest project in his storied career, a collaboration with emergent london poet & musician james massiah. having chanced upon him a performance during a fiona bevan presents night at dalstons servants jazz quarters, asher immediately approached massiah about a possible collaboration: as soon as i heard james i knew i had to work with him. his poetry is infectious, textured & interesting. time & space took years to imagine but 25 minutes to write. it took james approximately the same amount of time to lay his poem down. asher approached matt edwards with the results, and the time & space ep was confirmed for release on rekids: two original cuts of futuristic house emboldened by massiahs electrifying street poetry, and a reprise version of the title track which steps away from the dancefloor to bring the lyrical content into sharper focus

powder is a young producer raised in rural japan, now living in tokyo. she wakes daily at 6am, squeezes onto a packed subway and commutes to a bland office building where her day is consumed by the electronics industry — a banal world of blank stares, uniforms, data entry and soliciting phone calls. she cherishes her lunch break, a solitary hour of astral projection where her daydreams cull inspiration for another life, her nocturnal routine. at 9pm the day closes, as her co-workers flock to the izakaya for beers, powder rushes to her micro home-studio to exorcize her daily demons, constructing a tropical temple to house her immaculate vision. she slaves away, unabashed until sunrise, when her routine begins again, however, todays lunch break is an escape into her headphones where she will revisit her soundtrack inspired by lights, colors, hometown memories, and the imaginary worlds where the fruits of her labour will live.

following the release of the ‘extraction’ and ‘hydraulic pressure’ 12”s earlier this year, adventice – the incendiary collaboration between dj deep and roman poncet, returns to tresor. while taking the groove up quite a few notches, and as per its two predecessors, ‘exsurgence’ unfolds in three different versions around a common theme.
the ‘main mix’ opens into hammering chords yet taking a delicate turn into an synth-heavy refrain. on the flip, the ‘reduced mix’ follows the same composition while playful and cinematic as the use of hihats add a skip to your step and pick up the pace. the ‘percussive mix’ and its rapid drum patterns, exude a fragrance of vocals triggering endless soundscapes.

one of the most respected producers in the underground, anaxander, contributes two beautiful pieces of original music, and has one of them reworked by deep house heavy hitter, the mighty amir alexander. lost my soul (in yours) is twisted little number, with dual synth riffs echoing off each other for maximum effect. a question about you uses jazzy chords and flutes over its undeniable bassline to retain some soulful flavoring, but amir strips all of that away on his interpretation, preffering instead to let the acid and the warehouse vibes have their way, taking things right into a 6am rave nightmare. this is absolute must-have piece of wax!

a fine 2015 for untilmyheartstops so far has seen the label usher in superb 12- releases from zach lubin, arnaldo, and duckett with the latter s pair of records a particular highlight. label co-founder leif is next up with taraxacum, his second album and umhss debut long-player and it may be their finest work to date. building on dinas oleu, his well-received 2013 debut album for fear of flying, the nine tracks on taraxacum show leif channelling all-new levels of immersion in his productions right now. very much an album you sink into, there are still tracks on taraxacum that will work on the dancefloor when you require something a bit hypnotic wed love to see a small club reacting to the startling an elephant madness for example. great work leif!

nado16 saw stratus take us all the way from the gower peninsula to the adriatic, and now swedish newcomer gryningen beckons us into a sepia dream for aficionado s third 10- special. the latest example of moonboots & boardman s fine ear for talent, the mysterious gryningen appears out of the shadowy stockholmsnatt without a word or a website, on hand to lead us right through the looking glass. the opiated drones of tvu kvarter frun vintergatan set the tone from the off, shifting and shimmering while languid synths lazily embrace you amid the gentle roll of the groovesome rhythm section. as the opener drifts out into the crashing waves, jag flyter omkring i en ask rises from the baltic sea with a lilting sway and understated melody. cosmic sequences sparkle like water in the moonlight and the subtle textures of acoustic guitar and chimes send us deeper into slumber. the organ-led slia dagar i rymdlaboratoriet tumbles down through the ocean murk into a subaquatic terrain of dubby reverb and psychedelic echo, illuminated occasionally by the refracted shimmer of chiming keys. from that moment of nocturnal shade we soar into the light on the swooning, swaying beauty of frun andra hand till strnnderna i nice . born out of the hazy childhood memory of matinee performances and fine white sand, this exotica inspired beauty warms the soul with its cinematic sense of wonder, all told through orchestral intricacy and steady guitar. this is a dream you ll want to have again and again. officially aficionado.
